  10. MOD2MID is a Windows utility that converts the music contained within MOD 
  11. format files into MIDI files so they can be played on most synths.

  15. Installation
  16. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  17. The distribution files are compressed to save space.  To decompress them you 
  18. must use the supplied setup routine from within Windows.
  19.  
  20. To do this select Run from the File menu in Program Manager then type 
  21. 'A:SETUP' or using whatever path the setup program is on.  Alternatively select
  22. SETUP from File Manager.

  27. The following files are distributed:

  29. README.1ST    This file!
  30. SETUP.EXE    The setup program.
  31. SETUP.LST    Data used by setup.
  32. SETUPKIT.DL_    "
  33. VER.DL_        "
  34. INSTM2M.EX_    "
  35. VBRUN200.DL_    Expands to VBRUN200.DLL the Visual Basic runtime library.
  36. MOD2MID.EX_    The utility itself.
  37. MOD2MID.WR_    The main documentation.
  38. STORIESN.MO_    Sample MOD for conversion.
  39. STORIES1.MI_    My conversion of the sample file.

  41. If any of these are missing then the setup routine will not work properly and 
  42. you should contact your supplier.

  45. De-Installation
  46. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  47. Should you ever wish to remove MOD2MID, these are the files created by Setup 
  48. and MOD2MID:

  50. In the MOD2MID directory:
  51.  
  52.     MOD2MID.EXE    The program itself.
  53.     MOD2MID.WRI    The main documentation.
  54.     STORIESN.MOD    A sample module to convert.
  55.     STORIES1.MID    My conversion of the above.

  58. In your \WINDOWS directory:
  59.  
  60.     INSTM2M.EXE    The program that installs MOD2MID.  This can be re-used
  61.             if it is necessary to re-install MOD2MID at any point.
  62.             Alternatively it can be deleted.
  63.     MOD2MID.INI    Created the first time you use MOD2MID.

  66. In your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory:

  68.     VBRUN200.DLL     the runtime library for all Visual Basic 2 programs.  
  69.             If you have any Visual Basic 1 programs then I'd 
  70.             suggest you replace them with newer versions created 
  71.             with VB 2 and erase the old VBRUN100.DLL.  Version 2 
  72.             programs are much smaller and run faster than before.
  73.     SETUPKIT.DLL   }These are used by the Visual Basic installation routine
  74.     VER.DLL           }and can be deleted if necessary.
